Installation Guide
1. Portable EV Charger Setup
Applicable Models:
• 32A Portable J1772 EV Charger

Portable EV chargers are designed for flexible home and travel charging when used with a compatible nema 14-50 outlet and proper electrical supply.
Before Use
Please check the following before plugging in the charger:
• Confirm your vehicle uses a J1772 charging port
• Use only a properly installed and grounded outlet
• Make sure the outlet is not loose, damaged, overheated, or worn
• Confirm the circuit can safely support the charging current
• Do not use extension cords
• Do not use adapters that are not properly rated for EV charging
• Keep the charger and cable away from sharp edges, heavy pressure, or standing water
NEMA 14-50 Outlet Reminder
For 240V Level 2 charging, make sure the NEMA 14-50 outlet is installed on a dedicated circuit by a qualified electrician. EV charging is a continuous load, so outlet quality and wiring condition are very important.
If the outlet feels hot, looks damaged, or the plug does not fit tightly, stop using it and have the outlet inspected by a licensed electrician.
Basic Setup Steps
1. Inspect the charger, cable, plug, and connector before use.
2. Plug the charger into a compatible outlet.
3. Select the appropriate charging current if your charger supports adjustable amperage.
4. Connect the J1772 connector to your vehicle.
5. Confirm charging has started normally.
6. After charging, stop charging from the vehicle or charger if needed, then remove the connector and store the cable properly.
Storage Tips
After use, keep the charging connector protected from dust, moisture, and impact. Avoid tightly bending or twisting the cable during storage.
2. 40A Wallbox vs. 48A Hardwired Installation Difference

EVPOVO 40A and 48A wallbox chargers both support clean wall-mounted installation and integrated cable storage. After charging, the J1772 connector can be inserted back into the charger body, and the cable can be neatly wrapped around the charger to keep the charging area organized.
However, the electrical installation requirements are different.

40A Wallbox J1772 EV Charger — Plug-In Installation
The 40A wallbox charger is designed for use with a properly installed NEMA 14-50 outlet.
Before use, please make sure:
• The outlet is installed on a dedicated 240V circuit
• The outlet is properly grounded
• The outlet is high quality and suitable for continuous EV charging
• The outlet is not loose, old, damaged, overheated, or worn
• The plug fits tightly and securely
• No extension cord is used
Although the 40A charger is plug-in, EV charging is still a continuous high-power load. If you are not sure whether your outlet or circuit is suitable, please have it inspected by a licensed electrician before use.
48A Hardwired J1772 EV Charger — Professional Installation Required
The 48A hardwired charger must be installed by a licensed electrician.
This model is designed for permanent high-power home charging and requires hardwired installation. It should not be connected through a plug or outlet.
Typical requirements include:
• Dedicated 240V circuit
• 60A circuit breaker typically required for 48A charging
• Proper wire size according to local electrical code
• Proper grounding
• Hardwired connection
• Installation according to the product manual and local electrical codes
Do not attempt DIY hardwired installation unless you are a qualified electrician. Incorrect wiring, breaker sizing, grounding, or loose connections may cause overheating, equipment damage, electric shock, or fire risk.
