What type of EVs are EVPOVO chargers compatible with?
EVPOVO J1772 chargers are compatible with electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids that use a J1772 charging port. Please confirm your vehicle’s charging port type before purchase.
What is the difference between 32A, 40A, and 48A charging?
32A provides up to about 7.7 kW, 40A provides up to about 9.6 kW, and 48A provides up to about 11.5 kW at 240V. Actual charging speed depends on your vehicle’s onboard charger.
Why does my EV not charge at the full charger output?
Your vehicle’s onboard charger controls the maximum AC charging power it can accept. If your vehicle supports only 7.2 kW AC charging, it will not charge faster than that even when connected to a higher-power charger.
Does a 48A charger require hardwired installation?
Yes. A 48A Level 2 EV charger usually requires hardwired installation on a dedicated 60A circuit. Installation should be completed by a licensed electrician.
Can I use an extension cord with my EV charger?
No. Do not use extension cords with EV chargers. EV charging is a continuous high-power load and extension cords can increase the risk of overheating and unsafe operation.
Can I install the charger outdoors?
Many EVPOVO chargers are designed for indoor and outdoor use with weather-resistant protection. Please check the specific product rating and follow the installation manual.
Does the smart charger support 5 GHz WiFi?
No. Smart Life app setup requires a 2.4 GHz WiFi network. A 5 GHz-only network is not supported.
Do I need a GFCI breaker?
EVPOVO chargers include built-in leakage protection. In some installations, using an additional GFCI breaker may cause nuisance tripping. Always follow local electrical code and consult a licensed electrician.
What should I do if the charger does not power on?
Please check the circuit breaker, outlet or hardwired connection, and power supply first. If the charger remains unresponsive, stop using it and contact EVPOVO support with photos or a short video.
